Lawn Mowing

If you’re lucky, then your healthy lawn needs to be mowed very often. How and when your lawn is being mowed will also play a big part in the quality of your yard. We can mow any grade, shape, or size of the lawn.

Let us come save your precious time by doing your weekly chore of mowing. After we cut your grass, we’ll go around the perimeter with a weed whacker and clean up the edges. Then, we’ll take a blower and blow all those grass cuttings away leaving a nice, clean yard.

While we’re there, we’ll look for other ways to maximize the longevity, health, and overall well-being of your lawn, such as fertilization, overseeding and aeration.

Seeding and Sod Installation

Fall and spring are perfect times to start a new lawn. It’s because the cooler temperatures prevent the seeds from drying out, but there is still enough sun and rain to help the seeds germinate. Lawn seeding requires careful planning because not all grass seeds are the same. We will pick the right seed variety based on your climate, soil, and turf requirements. The climate in Virginia is unique and sits right between two main categories, making the selection of grass both an art and a science.

After we decide which seed we will use, we need to prepare the ground, broadcast the seed and fertilize the soil according to best practices. We will also provide you with instructions on when you will need to water your new lawn, how frequently, etc.

Lawn Aeration

The build-up of lawn thatch makes it difficult for your lawn to breathe. Normally performed in the Spring and Fall, lawn aeration helps to mitigate the negative effects of thatch buildup.

Lawn aeration can be as simple as poking holes in the soil, but this would only work in some cases. Most lawns in our area require a more serious form of lawn aeration called core aeration.

Before we perform the core aeration procedure, we’ll need to clear your lawn of leaves and loose debris. Then, we’ll carefully rake out some of the lawn thatch that sits deep in the lawn without damaging the living grass. Once these preparations are done, we can make the holes that allow your lawn to breathe.

Benefits of Lawn Aeration:
  • Healthier, more vibrant lawn
  • Cleaner, fluffier to the touch
  • Easier to maintain and keep healthy
  • More effective seeding

Lawn Fertilization

Over the years the soil in your yard can become depleted of important nutrients your plants need. Fertilization is the best way to replace these nutrients and promote a green, healthy lawn.

The best time to fertilize your lawn is in the spring when the soil temperature reaches certain levels (Approximately 55 degrees Fahrenheit) but it can be done in other seasons as well. We will choose the right type of fertilizer for your soil to perform the proper application. The most crucial aspects here are even and thorough coverage. Trees also need to be fertilized, especially if they are newly planted so that they can fight pests and drought more efficiently. Again, the type of fertilizer depends on the soil and the trees/plants involved.

Other Lawn Care Services

Hydroseeding

Have you ever driven by a large patch of dirt that looks like it was spray-painted bright blue-green? This is what is called hydroseeding. Hydroseeding is a special method for planting grass seeds where typical planting methods won’t work. These can be large areas or on slopes that are difficult to plant on. Hydroseeding is more efficient than traditional seeding and more affordable than laying sod. The benefit of hydroseeding is that it’s quick and easy to apply as long as you have the right equipment. Also, the grass will grow extremely fast.

Weed Control

If you want to have a healthy, beautiful lawn on your property, then weed control will be crucial to achieving this goal. Eliminating pesky weeds from your lawn helps improve its health and appearance. Combining weed control and fertilization will maximize plant growth.

Overseeding

Overseeding keeps lawns looking great. You might wonder what overseeding really is, but in simple terms, overseeding is just planting additional seeds on top of your already existing lawn. It helps infill damaged, bare patches or thin, worn areas and gives your lawn a thicker, denser sward. Improve the color of the lawn, and reduce weed and moss invasion.

Topsoil

Topsoil is the upper layer of soil, usually between 2 to 8 inches in depth, that contains most of the ground’s nutrients and fertility. If you have poor soil in your garden and want to begin planting veg or laying turf, we will help you buy and apply fresh topsoil to ensure your plants will get a great start.
