Lawn Mowing
If you’re lucky, then your healthy lawn needs to be mowed very often. How and when your lawn is being mowed will also play a big part in the quality of your yard. We can mow any grade, shape or size of lawn.
Let us come save your precious time by doing your weekly chore of mowing. After we cut your grass, we’ll go around the perimeter with a weed whacker and clean up the edges. Then, we’ll take a blower and blow all those grass cuttings away leaving a nice, clean yard.
While we’re there, we’ll look for other ways to maximize the longevity, health, and overall well-being of your lawn, such as fertilization, overseeding and aeration.
Seeding and Sod Installation
Fall and spring are perfect times to start a new lawn. It’s because the cooler temperatures prevent the seeds from drying out, but there is still enough sun and rain to help the seeds germinate. Preparation is the most important part when it comes to seeding a lawn, not all grass seeds are the same. We need to select the right seed variety based on the climate, soil and turf requirements. Our climate here in Virginia is unique and sits right between two main categories so selecting the right grass is an art as well as a science.
After we decide which seed we will use, we need to prepare the ground, broadcast the seed and fertilize the soil according to best practices. We will also provide you with instructions on when you will need to water your new lawn, how frequently, etc.
Lawn Aeration
Lawn aeration can be as simple as poking holes in the soil, but this would only work in some cases. Most lawns in our area require a more serious form of lawn aeration called core aeration.
Before we perform the core aeration procedure, we’ll need to clear your lawn of leaves and loose debris. Then, we’ll carefully rake out some of the lawn thatch that sits deep in the lawn without damaging the living grass. Once these preparations are done, we can make the holes that allow your lawn to breathe.
Benefits of Lawn Aeration:
- Healthy, more vibrant lawn
- Cleaner, fluffier to the touch
- Easier to maintain and keep healthy
- More effective seeding
Lawn Fertilization
The best time to fertilize your lawn is in the spring when the soil temperature reaches certain levels (Approximately 55 degrees Fahrenheit) but it can be done in other seasons as well. We will choose the right type of fertilizer for your soil to perform the proper application. Even and thorough coverage is the most important factors here. Trees also need to be fertilized, especially if they are newly planted so that they can fight pests and drought more efficiently. Again, the type of fertilizer depends on the soil and the trees/plants involved.
